FAQs
1. What are the required steps to request a translation ?
Step1:Request for Quotation.
A quotation can be requested by phone, fax, e-mail or by filling in the relevant form in our website Please provide us with the following info:
- language pairs
- type of document to be translated
- whether the translation must be certified or not
- approximate volume to be translated
- format, graphics, tables, etc.
- requested deadline
- contact person
Step 2: Document Evaluation
The number of words to be translated, the format of the text, and the requested deadline are considered, as well as whether the translation is to be delivered urgently or not. Upon a thorough evaluation of the document, a written quotation is sent. The translation process begins once the quotation has been accepted by the client.
2. Upon acceptance of a quotation, what are the following steps in the translation process?
Each translation project is assigned to a project leader, who will gather the most suitable team of professional translators to address the task, which comprises translation, terminology research, creation of glossaries and subsequent proofreading and edition. Once all these steps have been completed, the translation is delivered in the format previously agreed with the client.
A translation is made in writing, whereas interpreting is performed orally. The translator’s career differs from the interpreter’s. Even though both professionals can deal with the same language pairs, the techniques and skills required from each one are quite different.
Consecutive interpreting is performed through note taking, where the interpreter renders a translation once the speaker has finished speaking or when he/she makes a pause.
However, in simultaneous interpreting, the interpreter translates as the speaker is giving his/her speech, almost at the same time. For that purpose, the suitable equipment (booth, headphones, sound) must be available.
What interpretation services do you offer?
ESPEN services specializes in interpretation in medical and human services. Legal and conference interpretation services are also available upon request.
What is a critical incident and what is your critical incident rate?
A critical incident is a verbal reporting tool that allows ESPEN Services staff to document and follow-up on any out of the ordinary events leading up to or occurring during or after the interpreting encounter. Tracking critical incidents allows ESPEN services staff to assess, plan for and implement changes to ESPEN policy. We take every report seriously and pride ourselves on a critical incident rate of less than one percent.
